Long Road to Recovery
(Jacinta Whitcome)
November, 2006
As I look through the glass of the big bay window
From the fifth story high
I can’t for the life of me remember
What it was I did outside
And there’s a woman dressed in white
Pushing a beeping blinking machine
Asking questions like what’s my name your name, oh you poor thing
I bet you just wanna go home
I think funny I’ve got no recollection of what you mean
CHORUS: And how long have I been sleeping
When did I ever close my eyes
I’m so lost in all this dreaming
Guess it’s long road to recovery
Tonight a cloud came down from the sky
And rested in my open window
Said honey you gonna have to tell the truth
But if you can’t tell the truth then at least let the lie go
And I know all I have is this moment
That in fact that’s all I ever had
Maybe that means it’s time to repent
Maybe all that means is releasing the things that make me bad
CHORUS: How long have I been sleeping
When did I ever close my eyes
I’m so tired of this dreaming
It’s long road to recovery
As I look through my second story window
Remembering what now seems so far
The world outside seems not so separate
But there is stillness I search for in these woes of the heart
How long have I been sleeping
How do I wake up
Feels more now like I’m dreaming
It’s time to wake up, yes it’s time to wake up
